The
"FUN BUG" , with its bright BLUE and YELLOW HULL and
distinctive SAIL, is a great little boat and is based on the proven
hull form of the "Lug Bug" traditional sailing tender, which started
production over ten years ago.
The
concept behind the developement was to create a small multi-purpose dinghy
with all the benifits of the stable, light-weight hull of the
"Lug Bug", and incorporate a very simple, brightly coloured,
easily spotted rig, and appeal to the kids as a trainer, as well
as providing a purposeful, low-maintenance tender for all ages.
It
is a good load carrier and rows very well.
Re-designing
the internal moulding and hull/deck joint is just one of developements
we carried out, this creates a double-skin, which gives the "FUN BUG" a
huge bouyancy chamber, as well as incorporating both bow and stern
seats. We have also used Alloy spars, and replaced the wood centre thwart
with an easy to clean grp moulding in keeping with the rest of the totally
modern structure. The transom is reinforced with bonded in marine
ply, this allows the use of a small outboard motor (3.3hp.
max). or even the use of electric outboards, ( sometimes a
requirement on inland waters). We have kept the rudder and dagger board
in marine ply and these are painted with a tough two-pack paint system.
The
"FUN BUG" really is a very low-maintenance, Car-toppable, value for money,
sailing trainer/tender, ideal for kids of all ages.
